Version 1 setup

Install Patch DNA on Windows

Patch DNA 1.0 for Windows is intentionally distributed without an Authenticode signature in the current customer-manual channel. Verify the installer before approving the expected Windows warning.

Windows 11 x64 · Serum 2 · VST3-compatible DAW

1. Download from your account

Sign in, open Downloads, and download only Patch_DNA_1.0.0_Windows_x64.exe from the official Patch DNA website. Do not run an installer obtained from another source.

2. Verify SHA-256

Open PowerShell in the download folder and run:

certutil -hashfile "Patch_DNA_1.0.0_Windows_x64.exe" SHA256

Compare the result with the checksum shown in your account. Every character must match. If it does not, do not run the file and contact support.

3. Start Setup normally

Double-click Patch_DNA_1.0.0_Windows_x64.exe normally. Do not right-click and choose Run as administrator. Setup needs the original Windows account to locate the active Serum 2 folder, including OneDrive and paths containing non-Latin characters.

4. Approve SmartScreen and UAC

  1. If Microsoft Defender SmartScreen says Windows protected your PC, click More info and verify the installer filename.
  2. Publisher: Unknown publisher is expected for this unsigned release. Click Run anyway.
  3. When Windows User Account Control asks for permission, click Yes and finish the installation.

Do not disable Microsoft Defender or SmartScreen and do not add a broad security exclusion. If Run anyway is unavailable because of an organization policy, contact your administrator or support@patchdna.ai.

5. Finish and launch Patch DNA

On the final Setup page, leave Launch Patch DNA selected and click Finish. Wait for the separate Patch DNA window to open before continuing.

6. Rescan and activate

Restart your DAW or rescan VST3 plug-ins. Open Patch DNA and activate it with the license key from your account. Ableton should identify the plug-in creator as Patch DNA. Serum 2 must already be installed and activated separately.

If the Patch DNA interface looks blurry on a high-DPI display, close the plug-in window, right-click Patch DNA in Ableton's browser or device title, disable Auto-Scale Plug-In Window, and reopen it. This host setting does not affect audio, presets, or the product version.

7. Product assets and uninstall

Numbered Patch DNA asset files may contain gaps. This is expected: Setup installs the exact verified set of 509 wavetables and 18 noises used by the product. Do not rename the files or fill the gaps.

Uninstall keeps the per-user Serum 2 copies so an elevated uninstaller cannot remove data from the wrong Windows account. If necessary, remove only the Patch DNA Neuro Formula Wavetables and Neuro Formula Noise folders manually. Do not delete other Serum files.
